The report in this weeks advertiser spoke about the advantages of a megerr and how A+E would remain. It failed to mention that there would be no ICU, no acute medical beds and no surgery (other than simple day cases). It also failed to mention that A+E would be a minor injuries unit only (open in daylight hours and not staffed by A+E docs). Not only do future patients of Trafford have to worry about travelling to Wythenshawe or the city centre for any inpatient treatment but relatives, visiting patients regularly will be a nightmare. Jo, please get as many people as possible to that meeting. Although I now think it is too late to try and stop the megerr (and this is what we should be doing), public opinion will help shape future negotiations with the acquiring Trust.
